What is the Estonia Digital Nomad Visa?
The Digital Nomad Visa lets you live in Estonia for up to a year while working remotely for an employer, your own company, or clients based outside Estonia. It comes as a short-stay C-visa (up to 90 days) or a long-stay D-visa (up to 365 days).
What you'll need to show
You'll need proof of remote work for an employer or clients outside Estonia, plus income of at least €4,500 gross per month over the previous six months. You'll also need health insurance that covers medical costs for your entire stay.
After you're approved
Your visa is issued for up to 365 days (D-type) or 90 days (C-type). There's no arrival registration or validation step: you simply enter Estonia and start your stay. Your visa also lets you spend up to 90 days in 180 in other Schengen countries.
Renewing and staying longer
The visa can't be renewed, but you can apply again. The limit is 548 days of stay within any 730-day period, so a full year can be followed by up to six more months. Time on the visa doesn't count toward permanent residence.
A policy built for the Digital Nomad Visa

One policy for your application, and the next one
Estonia's nomad visa can't be extended, but many people apply again for a second stay (up to 548 days in total within two years). Your Feather policy runs monthly and renews with you, so the same coverage works for your first application and your next.

Covers what Estonia's public system won't
Estonia's public health insurance (Tervisekassa) is funded by social tax paid through Estonian employers. As a digital nomad working for a company abroad, you won't be enrolled. Private coverage carries your entire stay, from your first day to your last.

Flexible for a nomad's calendar
Plans change. Maybe you leave after six months, maybe you move on to a residence permit. Your policy is monthly and you can cancel anytime, so you're never paying for coverage you don't need.

The DNV application process
Prepare your documents
Passport, proof of remote work (employment contract, company registration, or client contracts), six months of income statements showing €4,500+ gross per month, and a health insurance certificate covering your full stay.
Fill in the application online
Complete the visa application at eelviisataotlus.vm.ee and print it. You can apply up to six months before your trip, and no later than 30 days before travel for the D-visa.
Submit in person
Book an appointment at your nearest Estonian embassy or visa center (or a Police and Border Guard Board office if you're already in Estonia legally). The fee is €120 for the D-visa or €90 for the C-visa, and you'll give fingerprints at the appointment.

Processing takes 15 to 30 days. Once approved, you collect your visa and you're free to head to Tallinn, Tartu, or wherever your laptop takes you.
